Our Time Trial season is now over as tonight, 27th August, was a ‘Challenge Ride’ and we are not riding next week as the light is falling fast and is considered too risky. There are events taking place soon, such as the hill climb, monthly rides, tuesday training nights and then of course it’s Cyclo-X season!

The first Cyclo-X event is on 20th September and hosted by Sleaford Wheelers. Full details can be seen here.

Orienteering

From Dave and Diane

Thought we would let you know that we had 15 riders turn up today. We set them off at 1 min intervals in pairs,as Tim had just got back from holidays we placed him with Ann and John. The results was as follows

Chis and Neil 460 points

Brian and Simon 355 points

Scott and Marcus 307

Ann John Tim 305

Mick and Wally 294

Sarah Karl 255

Darren and Steve [his father] 196

Chris and Neil did an impressive ride bringing in every check point.Darren did a bit of off roading which ended up with a few mishaps. With the laughes and banter that was going on at the end we are sure everybody had a good time.If you could put this on the website somewhere we would be gratefull and a big thankyou for those that took part.

Thanks Diane and David

(We’ll sort out a dedicated page shortly for items like these)

Road Race 6th May 2009 Update

James wishes to express his thanks to all those who assisted on the night.

Road Race 6th May 2009

Would all those who volunteered to assist with the running of our Road Race on the 6th May confirm your availability with James, please. He can be reached by email: michelle_tyson@sky.com

Your help will be very much appreciated. Lead car and motorcycle outriders are in place so it’s just down to a lucky few for marshalling. Marshals need to be 16yrs and over and preferably accompanied for safety reasons. Reflective bibs will be handed out. It’s just two laps of our course which is about 17/18 miles per lap. If there is a problem with James’s email then send one via this site stephen@lincsracephotos.co.uk and I’ll forward it on.

Thankyou.

Sleaford Wheelers ‘10’ - please read this carefully:

Sleaford Wheelers welcome Yello Velo members to their ‘10’ as we do them to ours. As theirs start earlier than ours it give us an opportunity to join them on a Thursday evening. However, some arrangements have been altered for safety reasons.

These are as follows: Starting point is the same place as before but, the car parking and meeting point is now at the next road junction south of the start point. (details follow) Then warm up is on a side road then approach to the start line is by way of travelling North up the A15 to the roundabout and then South to the start line. NO U-TURNS ALLOWED ON THE A15!!!!!! To do so will be an immediate ban and disqualification from future Sleaford Wheelers events. Safety is paramount and Cathy Smith from Sleaford Wheelers has the last say on this, Says Malc Yates because he dare not argue the point ...

15th February 2009

The Results Page has now been updated with the 2008 winners. I’ve added 3 more catagories, the 25TT, the BAR and Handicap TT. If these don’t display properly let me know as I’ve had a touch of a ‘senior’ moment trying to get the extra tables needed to display them. 2nd and 3rd places are not shown on the tables at the moment but once my ‘senior’ moment passes I’ll look at adding them without causing confusion - might be something of a celebration if I manage it ....

An EGM was held on 9th February and details follow of the elected Committee and Officers shortly.

Club AGM

Monday 10th November is the Club AGM. which is being held at Merrimans (formerly Ruddy Duck).

7.45 pm for 8 pm start.

From Dianne Killick;

I would just like to say a big thanks to all our members who rode and gave me so much support on my first 100 miles bike ride. Without their support i do not know how i would have finished and through doing it i have managed to raise a good 500 pounds for the Lincs Air Ambulance .

Diane

From Richard Clare:

Jake attended the GHS National Schools Championship on the 14th sept in Ware, Hertfordshire. 145 entrants from the age of 12-16 but only 105 rode the 10 mile course. The Trial started on the A602 then down a slip road onto the A10 dual carriageway. This is an undulating course which went out 5.2miles to a roundabout then back down the A10 to finish at the Wodson Park Sports Centre. Jakes' time was 26m05s which matched his personal best. He finished 61st overall.

Two Yello Velo riders entered the 'Sleaford to Skegness TT' on Sunday 14th September, organised by Sleaford Wheelers it is a one way race of 37 miles and the very last local TT prior to the off-road Cyclo-cross season starting. Steve Blackbourn recorded 2 hours and 3 seconds and Rachael Collings recorded 2 hours 7 minutes and 34 seconds. Both riders then cycled home after the event with Rachael unlucky to puncture but very lucky not to have punctured during the race."

From Darren Smith:

2 members of Yello Velo - Darren Smith & Dave Killick - and 1 member from
Boston Wheelers - Charlie Porter competed in the Marin Winter Series Round 3
at Thetford Forest at the weekend.
The third round of the 2007-8 Marin winter Enduro series once again
attracted a big field of mud-proof mountain bikers with the entry capped at
500.
Darren and Charlie entered the 2 hour Men 18-39 catergory and Dave entered
the 2 hour Men 40+.
The January weather was mild and windy and the fast twisty and flowing
single track was just sloppy mud in places.
After digging deep each of the 3 riders completed 3 laps, finishing was as
follows:-

02:08:43 - CHARLIE PORTER - BOSTON WHEELERS 1)43:33 2)41:31 3)43:39
02:20:43 - DARREN SMITH - YELLO VELO 1)46:18 2)46:26 3)47:59
02:29:17 - DAVID KILLICK - YELLO VELO 1)49:01 2)50:10 3)50:06
